Australia’s Star Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of veteran company director and chair Deborah Page AM to its Board of Directors, effective immediately, after receiving regulatory approval.
First announced in November, the appointment of Page as a non-executive director forms part of Star’s board renewal program after a swathe of former directors stepped down in the wake of the Bell Inquiry into The Star Sydney. That inquiry uncovered serious compliance failures in relation to the company’s anti-money laundering controls, among others.
Page is described by Star as boasting “broad industry experience spanning various ASX listed, private, public sector and regulated entities including in the property, utilities, insurance, technology, renewables and funds management sectors.”
She is currently chairman of global investment management firm Pendal Group Limited and a non-executive director of Brickworks Limited, Growthpoint Properties Australia Limited and Service Stream Limited.
She was previously Chairman of Investa Listed Funds Management Limited and non-executive director of GBST Holdings Limited, Australian Renewable Fuels Limited and Investa Property Group.
Star added that Page is a Chartered Accountant with dual audit partner and CFO experience during her executive career, and brings “extensive Board and Audit Committee Chair experience as well as corporate finance, accounting, audit, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, insurance and joint venture arrangements.”
When her appointment was first announced in November, Page said she looked forward to making a “meaningful contribution to the transformation of the company over the coming years.”
She is one of six new appointees to Star’s Board of Directors since the Bell inquiry found the company unsuitable to hold its NSW casino license.
