The number of visitors arriving in Macau fell by 54.3% year-on-year and 36.8% month-on-month to 366,511 in November, negatively impacted by the pandemic situation and related travel impediments in mainland China.
According to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), November’s visitor tally included a 31.7% fall in overnight visitors to 196,279 and 66.9% decline in same-day visitors to 170,232 – although the average length of stay increased from 1.3 days to 1.9 days.
Visitation from mainland China fell by 56.8% year-on-year to 320,267, of which 116,890 travelled under the Individual Visit Scheme.
Visitors from the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta in the Greater Bay Area totalled 184,163, with 48.1% of those coming from Zhuhai. There were also 38,562 visitors from Hong Kong and 5,569 from Taiwan.
For the first 11 months of 2022 combined, visitor arrivals fell by 22.9% year-on-year to 5,310,949, including 3,056,366 same-day visitors and 2,254,583 overnight visitors. The average length of stay of visitors decreased by 0.1 days year-on-year to 1.5 days, DSEC said.
