Genting Malaysia Bhd has reached a deal with its workers’ union on a 13th collective agreement which it says provides enhanced pay and benefits to more than 5,500 employees.
The agreement was signed last week by Genting Malaysia COO Lee Thiam Kit and workers union President Sikindar Ibrahim, having been delayed by two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aside from better remuneration for various job positions, it also includes upward revisions of split duty allowances and hospitalisation benefits, added compassionate leave and optical and dental benefits.
“The signing of the 13th CA demonstrates how both parties can work together through constant consultations and discussions to come up with new and efficient approaches to amicably resolve any issues that may arise,” said Lee.
“With all these improvements, we believe that our employees would strive harder to sustain the company’s business growth for the mutual benefit of both parties.”
Lee also said that Genting Malaysia would continue to adopt new technology and innovation, invest in the development of employee skills and knowledge, and review job processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
The company’s flagship Malaysian integrated resort, Resorts World Genting, began reopening in stages from early October 2021 after a four-month closure brought about by the pandemic.
