Philippines integrated resort Okada Manila saw a 355% year-on-year increase in foot traffic through the first nine months of 2022, aided by the post-pandemic return of both foreign and local guests, said Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc (TRLEI) President Byron Yip.
In a press statement, Yip – who was reinstated to lead TRLEI after the Tiger Resort Asia Ltd (TRA)-backed board reclaimed control of the property from Kazuo Okada last month – explained the operator was now looking at a strong finish to the year with the opening of new facilities and attractions in 2022.
“We at Okada Manila are seeing green shoots of recovery from when the pandemic struck the Philippines in 2020,” he said.
“Through the collaboration of our employees and leaders, Okada Manila was able to record more than two folds growth in our monthly foot traffic. With the revitalization of the travel, hospitality, gaming, and entertainment sectors we are optimistic that we will continue to ride on a growth momentum and end 2022 on a positive note.”
Among the new facilities to open are Perlas VIP club, a variety of new retail outlets including Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Charriol and Lacoste, as well as new restaurants and function halls. Water feature The Fountain has also reopened.
“We at Okada Manila are optimistic about these new developments,” Yip said.
“It is our goal to be the premier integrated resort not just in the Philippines, but in Asia. We’re looking forward to working with all our stakeholders towards a stronger end-of-year as we welcome 2023.”
