Malaysian-based gaming equipment supplier RGB International Bhd hosted a special networking event during G2E Asia Special Edition: Singapore aimed at bringing its regional customers together for the first time since 2019.
The event, sponsored by RGB’s long-time partners Light & Wonder and Aristocrat, as well as gaming supplier Channel Paradise, was held at Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsey at Marina Bay Sands last Thursday 25 August 2022.
Speaking with Inside Asian Gaming on the night, RGB Chief Operating Officer, Datuk Steven Lim Tow Boon, said the opportunity to connect with customers again in Singapore was vitally important given the challenges of recent years.
“We decided this year to host a networking event because we believe in bringing our customers together, giving them more value and understanding what they need,” Lim said
“That’s why we gathered together with our partners Light & Wonder and Aristocrat and decided to collaborate and organize this event.
“We have invited all of our major customers across the Asia-Pacific region – from the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and we even have a customer from Nepal as well. We feel that with the borders opening up, people can now travel more freely and Singapore is the right place at this moment to bring everyone together.”
Asked about the benefit of meeting face-to-face, Lim said, “It’s great to see and to catch up with all of our industry friends and customers after two years of absence due to COVID. Most of the work [in recent years] was done through Zoom meetings so there is definitely a change of atmosphere, a change of feeling, and I guess everybody was looking forward to catching up as well.”
More importantly, Lim said, the gathering was a reflection of the improving business environment across the region with most gaming properties not only open again but seeing revenues returning or exceeding pre-COVID levels.
“As far as the gaming industry is concerned, we see a lot of opportunity ahead – especially in the Philippines and Vietnam,” he explained. “We have definitely seen the business trends coming back quite strongly over the past six months.”
