Macau’s Health Bureau says that from 18 August, people coming to Macau from foreign countries, Hong Kong and Taiwan do not need to show proof of vaccination upon entry.
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center said, “The fact that proof of vaccination is no longer required is not because vaccination against the new coronavirus is no longer important, but because the vast majority of arrivals have met the vaccination requirements.”
It also noted that “requiring proof of vaccination is inconvenient for inbound persons.”
However, foreigners, Hong Kong and Taiwanese arrivals are still required to undergo a 7-day hotel quarantine and 3-day self-health management program.
Macau also remains closed to the majority of the world, with only foreign arrivals from Portugal allowed to enter Macau, pending special exemptions for others, or those from some Southeast Asian countries who fill specific jobs such as domestic helpers.
