Trade shows are officially back with the Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE) set to kick off in Sydney today.

Returning for the first time in three years, AGE will see representatives from the Australian and New Zealand gaming industries come together for the next three days at ICC Sydney. The show had been postponed in both 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.

Debuting in 1990, this year represents the 31st edition of AGE and will cover 9,000 square meters of space and feature more than 200 exhibitors representing everything from gaming-specific products to innovative hospitality supplies such as audio-visual equipment, ATM equipment, building services, cash handling equipment, consultancy services, entertainment, financial services, food and beverage, furniture, IT, interior design and fitout, marketing services and more.

Gaming suppliers will include industry-leading firms like Ainsworth, Aristocrat, Aruze, IGT, Konami and Light & Wonder, showcasing the latest in cutting-edge gaming design and technologies.

The return of AGE will also see Inside Asian Gaming more involved than ever after being named Official Media and Production Partner for this year’s show. IAG has produced a brand new, 100-page official show publication, Inside AGE, which will be distributed to all exhibition booths and at the main entrance of AGE 2022, featuring all key show information including a floor map, exhibitor list, networking guide, executive interviews, exhibitor product highlights and much more.

IAG has also organized two key panel sessions for the AGE seminar series, to run on Wednesday morning. The first panel, titled “Slots: the convergence between ANZ and Asian studios, themes and mechanics”, is scheduled to take place from 10.30am on Wednesday 10 August. IAG Managing Editor Ben Blaschke will be joined by Light & Wonder’s Senior Vice President of Global Product Management, Nathan Drane, and IGT’s Senior Director Product Management – APAC, Charles Seo, to discuss the latest trends in ANZ and how these games are influencing the entire Asia-Pacific region.

Immediately afterwards, from 11.10am, Ben will be joined by the former head of Victoria’s gaming regulator, Peter Cohen, VP and Managing Director Asia for Light & Wonder, Ken Jolly, and Partner at Addisons Lawyers, Jamie Nettleton, for a panel titled “Contrasting Australian gaming regulation with other Asian jurisdictions.”

This panel will take a deep dive into regulatory changes emanating from recent Australian casino inquiries and how they will impact casino, pub and club operators across the country. It will also compare Australia’s new regulatory environment to other major APAC jurisdictions such as Macau, the Philippines and Singapore.

IAG will have a number of staff at AGE this year and will be reporting directly from the show floor over the next three days. Visit us at Stand #280, located right next to Light & Wonder.
