Inside Asian Gaming has announced that the Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner will be moving to the Philippines this year, with City of Dreams Manila to host the highly prestigious event on Friday 4 November 2022.

This will be the first time in the 15-year history of the Asian Gaming Power 50 that the annual Black Tie Gala Dinner has been held outside Macau.

The decision to relocate was made on the basis of uncertainty surrounding the feasibility of hosting the Gala Dinner in Macau in 2022 given the ongoing pandemic situation. While IAG hopes the Gala Dinner will return to its traditional Macau home in the future, the announcement of City of Dreams Manila as Venue Sponsor is recognition of the Philippines’ rapidly growing status as one of Asia-Pacific’s most dynamic gaming jurisdictions. IAG thanks Melco Resorts & Entertainment for its generous support.

City of Dreams Manila is an integrated resort and casino located within Manila’s Entertainment City precinct and featuring three award-winning hotel brands in Nüwa, Nobu and Hyatt Regency. Strategically positioned in close proximity to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, SM Mall of Asia, SMX Convention Center and other key destinations, it also features a number of premium dining outlets, an iconic Fortune Egg that houses ultra-luxurious VIP gaming areas comparable to any from around world and the DreamWorks-inspired DreamPlay offering one-of-a-kind entertainment for the whole family.

“We are delighted to be the Venue Sponsor for the prestigious 2022 IAG Power 50. Welcoming the region’s gaming luminaries to our doors is a privilege and an honor not only to our resort specifically, but also to the Philippines. The gala event provides a distinct opportunity to showcase Philippine hospitality as it rises from the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said City of Dreams Manila Property President, Geoff Andres.

IAG Vice Chairman and CEO, Andrew W Scott added, “We’re absolutely delighted to announce the 15th Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner will be hosted by our great friends at City of Dreams Manila — the first time in its history it has been held outside Macau.”

“It’s no secret that organizing major events in Macau is difficult right now, so it made perfect sense to finally take the Power 50 on the road – something we’ve been thinking about for a few years. Manila is the obvious host city with so much industry development happening across the Philippines. After all, it is the Asian Gaming Power 50 covering all the APAC region and I’d love to see the event travel all over Asia-Pacific in the years ahead, just like football’s Champions League final is held in different cities each year.

“This is the once-a-year ‘night of nights’ for the Asian industry, where we put competition aside and all come together to celebrate as one. As we recover from the pandemic our industry desperately needs a wonderful and positive night like this, and we hope all operators from Macau, the Philippines, Singapore, Australia and the rest of the region support what has become a truly one-of-a-kind opportunity for senior executives to see and be seen at our most glamorous industry event each year.”

Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2022, the Asian Gaming Power 50 has established a reputation as the definitive guide to the most influential people in the Asian gaming industry over the preceding 12 months.

The Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner will see IAG count down this year’s “Big 50” while guests enjoy a fine dining meal, lively entertainment and the company of many industry peers and influencers. The list will be announced in a variety of interesting ways by renowned VIPs.
