The Macau government will halve the mandatory hotel quarantine period for returning residents and visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan from 14 days to 7, starting from this Saturday 6 August.

According to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center, the reduced quarantine will apply to residents returning from foreign countries, and will also be followed by a shorter 3-day self-health management period in which arrivals must monitor their health. During this time, their health code will turn to yellow.

“The measure is applicable to those who have completed a full course of the COVID-19 vaccine and to those who have not completed the full course of vaccination due to age or illness,” the Center said.

“The measure is also applicable to those who are currently under medical observation.”

However, according to the Chief Executive’s Instruction No. 64/2022, non-residents are still prohibited from entering the SAR, except for those from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

In addition, Chief Executive lifted the “state of immediate precaution” in anticipation of the end of Macau’s first major outbreak of COVID-19.
