The Studio City and Broadway hotels in Macau will become quarantine hotels from this Wednesday 13 July.
Studio City, operated by Melco Resorts & Entertainment, will offer 680 rooms while Galaxy Entertainment Group’s Broadway will provide 235 rooms. Both will admit people with “Red” health code.
As of now, six hotels owned by Macau concessionaires have been segregated for use by those in quarantine, the others being Grand Lisboa Palace, which is owned by SJM, Sheraton and Parisian which are owned by Sands China, and Grand Hyatt which is also run by Melco.
The addition of more hotels comes as Macau announced its third COVID casualty. The deceased was an 88-year-old woman who suffered from a chronic illness. All three confirmed deaths have been elderly people with chronic illnesses such as heart disease and high blood pressure.
The newest death was confirmed on July 6, when the female patient was admitted to hospital on antiviral medication. On Monday 11 July she developed severe diabetic complications and was treated by doctors but her condition did not improve. She was pronounced dead on Tuesday.
