Confirmed number of COVID cases in Macau reaches 414

The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since the continuing Macau outbreak began on 19 June has reached 414, as of 9am (Macau time) on Tuesday 28 June.

There were 57 new cases found in the past 24 hours via nucleic acid tests (NAT), of which 33 were found in the community and 24 amongst people in quarantine, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center.

As at 8am today (28 June), a total of 8,996 people have been followed up by the government in their epidemiological investigations. These include 1,244 close contacts, 6,087 “non-core” close contacts, 312 “sub-close” contacts, 296 general contacts and 643 accompanying persons.

The Novel Coronavirus Response Coordination Center said that of as of 8am today (Tuesday), regarding the mass testing which began at 9am on Monday, a total of 489,242 people have been sampled, of which 210,800 people tested negative so far. However, a total of 13 mixed-tube samples have tested positive.

Inside Asian Gaming will continue to provide regular updates as the situation evolves. The next formal update from the Macau government on case numbers is expected at a press conference scheduled for 9am today (Wednesday).
