The number of confirmed cases from the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Macau has reached 170, of which 106 are women and 64 men. They are aged between 8 months and 89 years old, with 41 showing symptoms and 129 asymptomatic, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response Coordination Center.

The confirmed patients are temporarily divided into six groups:

  1. Yim Lai Building Group with 78 cases
  2. Tat Cheong Building Group with 59 cases
  3. Tim Fung Cleaning Service Group with 10 cases
  4. OD Health Club Group (奧迪健身會) with 3 cases
  5. Centro Internacional de Macau Group (國際中心) with 2 cases
  6. Four Seasons Shoppes Staff Changing Room with 4 cases
Macau Health Bureau Director, Alvis Lo Iek Long.

The remaining 14 cases have not yet been connected to any group and are still under investigation. Macau Health Bureau Director, Alvis Lo Iek Long, said this evening (Friday) there is a “high chance” that a third round of mass testing will be conducted.

Lo said, “The number of confirmed cases in the second round of mass testing is higher than for the first round, and we believe there is still transmission of the virus in the community.”

A volunteer mass testing medical worker told IAG today that “the third round of mass testing is expected to be conducted on Sunday at the earliest, and before this test, all people will have to do a self-test.”

In addition, Macau authorities will implement new isolation periods for close contacts and secondary (or “common trail”) contacts from Saturday 25 June.

The isolation period for close contacts will change from 10 days of medical observation to eight days of medical observation and two days of “self-health management.”

The isolation period for secondary contacts will change from seven days of medical observation to five days of medical observation and two days of “self-health management.”
