The Macau Health Bureau has today confirmed that 21 people have been infected with COVID-19. All of them are local cases.
The 21 confirmed patients are comprised of 16 women and five men, and range in age from 8 months to 89 years old. Asymptomatic cases total 13, with the remaining eight showing symptoms of the virus.
The Health Bureau said the 21 confirmed patients are in two groups, one of which consists of patients from the “Yim Lai” building, where 17 people were infected, 13 of whom were non-resident employees. The other group is from the “Tak Fong” building, where four people were infected, one of whom was a prison employee.
“The 21 infected persons are in good health and two of them had been to the mainland 10 days ago,” a Health Bureau spokesman said.
“A total of 238 people have been followed up as part of our epidemiological investigations, including 74 close contacts, 109 non-core contacts (those with ‘common trails’), 17 sub-close contacts, 12 general contacts and five accompanying persons.”
The government has decided to close public offices in Macau on 20 and 21 June.
