Melco Resorts & Entertainment and the National Conditions Education (Macau) Association co-hosted the Second Melco Star Youth Talent Competition Finals last weekend, aimed at promoting patriotism by enhancing awareness and education on Chinese culture for youth in Macau.
The competition saw around 900 students from 55 schools and arts institutions take part, bringing 142 Chinese cultural arts performances in acts including dance, songs and recitals. A total of 26 finalists showcased their talent at Studio City on Saturday.
“Melco is committed to promoting national pride through education and awareness through our ‘Splendors of China’ initiative,” said Melco Chairman and CEO, Lawrence Ho.
“We thank the National Conditions Education (Macau) Association on the co-organization of this event to foster awareness, appreciation and pride in the young people of Macau through cultural performance competitions. Congratulations to all contestants for their hard work and impressive performances showcasing their talents.”
Jack Wang, President of the National Conditions Education Association (Macau), added, “It has been more than 20 years since Macau was returned to the Motherland, and a great number of bright young talents have been nurtured under the system of ‘One Country, Two Systems’ and ‘the People of Macau Governing Macau’.
“We hope that the ‘Melco Star Macau Youth Talent Competition’ can be an artistic stage that carries the wishes and dreams of the new generation.”
Guests of Honor at the event included Tian Xiaoping, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR; Leong Wai Man, Director of Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR; Gao Yuan, Head of the Department of Public Diplomacy and Information of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the Macau SAR; Au Weng Chi, Committee Member of Macau Foundation Executive Committee; Lam Tong Hou, Head of Public Relations Division of the Macau Government Tourism Office of the Macau SAR; Leong I On, Head of the Division of Secondary Education of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macau SAR; Lao Ngai Leong, Macau Deputy of the National People’s Congress and the Head of the Macao Delegation; Zhu Shou Tong, Director of the Center for Chinese History and Culture, University of Macau; and Zheng Hong Guang, Chairman of The Chinese Educators Association of Macau.
