Las Vegas Strip casino Bally’s is set for a multi-million dollar transformation that will see it rebranded Horseshoe Las Vegas – a nod to the famous Horseshoe brand that made its name downtown more than 70 years ago.

The makeover, to begin in the northern spring and include a renovated exterior, new entertainment and F&B options, a reimagined casino floor and upgraded public areas, comes as the property prepares to this year host the World Series of Poker (WSOP) for the first time.

The WSOP, relocating from its home of the past 17 years at the Rio, was first held at Binion’s Horseshoe in 1970 when owner Benny Binion invited seven of the world’s best poker players to compete in a series of cash games – with the winner decided by vote.

Since then, the WSOP has grown into the largest and most prestigious poker series on the planet with the 2021 WSOP attracting a combined 127,245 entries across 88 events and paying out a total of US$238 million in prize money.

According to information released by owner Caesars Entertainment overnight, the new Horseshoe Las Vegas will pay homage to the history of the original Horseshoe via “classic sophistication”, with the design team to incorporate a handcrafted feel via tooled leather, dramatic colors and the brand’s signature gold horseshoe iconography.

“Since 1951 Horseshoe Casinos have been home to the best odds, highest limits and biggest jackpots, so it’s fitting that we bring Horseshoe back to Las Vegas, and right on the Las Vegas Strip,” said Jason Gregorec, property SVP and General Manager.

“Holding to the Horseshoe tradition of providing impeccable service, our guests will see the property transform over time, ensuring we aren’t disrupting the excitement while we make the transition.”

Ty Stewart, SVP and Executive Director of the WSOP, said, “Horseshoe is where it all began for WSOP. It’s always been a brand for gamblers and card players. As we move WSOP to the Las Vegas Strip for the first time, that it will happen at [the] Horseshoe makes it incredibly special.”

The 53rd annual WSOP will run from 31 May to 19 July 2022.
