A total of 15 Macau restaurants have been honored with a combined 26 Michelin stars following release of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2022.

The numbers represent a slight decline on last year, when 18 restaurants combined for 30 Michelin stars.

This year’s highly anticipated guide again saw three restaurants receive the highest honor of three Michelin stars, with Jade Dragon at City of Dreams, Grand Lisboa’s Robuchon au Dôme and The Eight all retaining their elite Three-Star status.

Five restaurants were awarded Two-Stars, one fewer than in 2021, namely Alain Ducasse at Morpheus, Feng Wei Ju at StarWorld, Mizumi (Macau) at Wynn Macau, and Sichuan Moon and Wing Lei at Wynn Palace.

There were also two fewer One-Star restaurants in the 2022 Guide, with Wing Lei Palace at Wynn Macau, Lai Heen at Ritz-Carlton in Galaxy, 8½ Otto e Mezzo – Bombana at Galaxy, Pearl Dragon at Studio City, The Kitchen at Grand Lisboa, Ying at Altira and Zi Yat Heen at Four Seasons Hotel retaining last year’s status.

Macau’s IFT Educational Restaurant in Macau received a Michelin Green Star for the second year running, highlighting its efforts in delivering culinary excellence with outstanding eco-friendly commitments.

“This year’s edition sees blooming young talents shaping the culinary landscape of Hong Kong and Macau and pushing creative limits,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide.

“Our teams were particularly delighted to see an increasing number of chefs honouring their roots by introducing gastronomic gems from their culture to Hong Kong and Macau diners.

“In this 2022 edition, we applaud the chefs and restaurateurs in both territories for showing grit, resilience and creativity in times of uncertainties. We are proud to celebrate Hong Kong and Macau’s brightest talents as they pave the way for two of the world’s most exciting and diverse culinary destinations.”

SJM Holdings Chairman Daisy Ho said the company was honored to again receive two Three-Star awards for its restaurants at Grand Lisboa.

“Our team members share a common goal with the company to add more excitement to Macau as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy,” she said.

“SJM is pleased at Michelin Guide’s recognition of our contributions to the city’s vibrant culinary culture, in support of the Government’s efforts in promoting ‘tourism and gastronomy’ as Macau establishes itself as a world centre of tourism and leisure.”
