A 29-year-old Singaporean man is facing trial in a district court on allegations of extortion and cheating by impersonation after trying to induce two employees of Marina Bay Sands to upgrade his membership tier.
According to a report by The Straits Times, Goh Tian Shun allegedly threatened a shift manager by promising to alert authorities to an unvaccinated individual he claimed to have seen granted entry to a casino lounge.
He then contacted another MBS employee by phone where he claimed to be a photojournalist for a local paper.
On both occasions he requested a permanent upgrade to MBS’s “Paiza” VIP program.
If found guilty, Goh faces up to five years in jail for each offence plus caning on the extortion charge and a fine on the cheating by impersonation charge, The Straits Times said.
