Grand Korea Leisure may have found a new home for its Seven Luck Casino Gangbuk Hilton branch after Seoul Dragon City was named as the successful bidder to host the casino.
According to local media reports, Seoul Dragon City – a multi-hotel complex opened in 2017 and located near major business districts – has been notified it was the sole bidder to host GKL’s casino with a number of other contenders having expressed concerns over a need to dramatically change their layout if they were to host gaming operations.
Conversely, Seoul Dragon City was deemed suitable due to its high ceiling height on the lower floors and the existence of high-end accommodation facilities within the complex. The development features 1,700 hotel rooms across four hotels – Grand Mercure, ibis Styles, Novotel, and Novotel Suite – plus 17 meeting rooms, 11 bars and restaurants, two multi-function grand ballrooms and a four-level Sky Bridge with a miniature indoor pool, performance stage, private beach club and a skywalk.
As previously reported by Inside Asian Gaming, Millenium Seoul Hotel – currently home to GKL’s Seven Luck casino – is set to be torn down after it was sold to real estate fund manager Aegis Asset Management in May. Aegis plans to replace the building with an office tower.
Seven Luck Casino at Gangbuk Millennium Seoul Hilton is one of three foreigner-only casinos operated by GKL, alongside Gangnam COEX in Seoul and Seven Luck Casino Busan Lotte.
