PAUL TOWN hasn’t wasted any time climbing the ranks at what has often been described as “the most profitable casino in the world.”
The New Zealander arrived in Singapore in October 2019 as Marina Bay Sands’ Senior Vice President Resort Operations, tasked with overseeing finance, development and non-gaming operations, working alongside veteran gaming expert Andrew MacDonald.
However, when MacDonald quietly retired earlier this year, Town found himself promoted to Chief Operating Officer with gaming now very much under his remit.
While business volumes remain down at MBS due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Town still has plenty on his plate in the near term as Las Vegas Sands continues preparations for the US$3.3 billion expansion of its Singapore IR.
Born near the New Zealand city of Auckland, Town spent his early childhood in Singapore where he attended Dover Court International School and United World College of South East Asia. He obtained a Bachelor of International Hotel Management from the International College of Hotel Management and launched into a career in hotels as Night Manager of Langham Hilton.
His industry experience includes stints at Galaxy Macau, Melco-Crown and Crown Melbourne where he served in a range of senior leadership roles on the hotel side. He also worked with a number of food and beverage supply companies in Australia shortly before his move to MBS in 2019.
