Singapore integrated resort Marina Bay Sands has issued a clarification statement around new rules set to be introduced governing health and safety requirements for guests.

The statement follows updated guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health last Saturday preventing unvaccinated individuals from entering certain businesses including attractions, shopping malls, hawker centers or coffee shops. The guidelines, which expand on those already in place for restaurants and F&B outlets, are in response to a recent surge in COVID-19 cases after Singapore recently eased most restrictions under its COVID-19 recovery plan.

MBS revealed late Thursday that it will implement vaccination-differentiated safe management measures (VDS) across the property from 20 October, matching those put in place for its casino and attractions from 13 October.

To enter any facility within The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands or the hotel, guests above the age of 12 will need to be fully vaccinated with their second shot administered at least 14 days prior, recovered from COVID-19 and holding a valid Pre-Event Test (PET) exemption notice, or unvaccinated but with a valid negative PET result for the duration of their visit.

“This VDS-only approach for the integrated resort will facilitate movement within Marina Bay Sands,” the company said. “VDS and SafeEntry checks will be conducted at the Hotel and Mall – major entry points into the IR – as well as at Attractions, the Casino and F&B outlets.”

MBS noted that vaccination rate among its staff have now climbed above 97% with an enhanced routine testing programme in place.

“This means that guest-facing staff will undergo swab tests at a frequency ranging from every three days up to every seven days,” MBS said.

“The integrated resort, which has hygiene and sanitisation certifications … is committed to being vigilant on all fronts, working closely with the authorities to respond and adapt quickly to the evolving situation.”
