Eight hotels located at Manila’s integrated resorts are among a list of accredited hotels that will be allowed to welcome back guests for staycations from Saturday.
Publication of the list, comprising 29 hotels in total, follows confirmation by Malacañan Palace this week that Manila’s COVID-19 alert level would be lowered from 16 to 31 October.
Among those permitted to resume staycations are Okada Manila Hotel, Nobu Hotel at City of Dreams, Hyatt Regency and Nuwa Hotel of City of Dreams, Solaire Resort and Resorts World Manila’s Sheraton Manila Hotel, Hilton Manila and Hotel Okura Manila.
“Individuals of all ages may check-in for staycation,” the DOT said. “However, to ensure safety of all guests, only those 18 years old and above who are fully vaccinated shall be allowed to book their stay.”
Unvaccinated guests will be required to submit a negative COVID-19 test result.
“This is also very timely, knowing that that the holiday season is fast approaching. Family gatherings are part of the Filipino culture, which makes this an important period for leisure travels and bookings,” said Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
“We welcome the easing of restrictions under the current alert level. The resumption of tourism-related activities in select areas will not only aid hotels and establishments in gradually earning revenue, but will also translate into the restoration of jobs for our displaced tourism workers, especially now that the holiday season is fast approaching.”
As previously reported by IAG, the easing of COVID-19 restrictions will also allow Manila’s casinos to reopen at 30% capacity.
