Beijing city will require anyone arriving from Macau to undergo 14-days of mandatory hotel quarantine after the SAR recorded two more local COVID-19 cases over the weekend.
Travelers will also be required to undergo a further seven days of health monitoring at home while receiving regular virus tests. The measure will be adjusted depending on the development of Macau’s COVID-19 outbreak, authorities said.
The new cases were both non-resident workers who were close contacts of the four construction workers who tested positive last week. The two had been in quarantine since 5 October and had previously tested negative, but tests conducted last Friday 8 October returned positive results.
After an evaluation by health officials, the risk of spreading the virus was considered very low and no new red or yellow areas were declared. Two other red and yellow zones at Avenida de Horta e Costa and Rua da Palmeira Macau Street were removed from the midnight of 9 October.
Casino Oceanus has also been deemed ready to reopen after closing last week when it was discovered that one of the positive cases had visited several times while infectious. All casino staff have now received two COVID-19 tests and retuned negative results.
No COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in Macau.
