Leisure & Resorts World Corp to launch Philippines sportsbook

Leisure & Resorts World Corp (LRWC) says it has been granted accreditation from Philippines gaming regulator PAGCOR to launch a new retail and online sportsbook for local users.

The sportsbook, called GSPORTS, is operated by wholly-owned LRWC subsidiary Total Gamezone Xtreme Incorporated (TGXI) and will offer players the opportunity to place wagers on various betting markets across “professional, collegiate and other sports leagues.”

“GSPORTS provides a secure and safe betting website by using the latest encryption technologies to protect the sensitive information of its customers,” LRWC said.

“Fairness and quality playing experience are guaranteed as all its betting products and services are audited and regulated by PAGCOR.”

PAGCOR accreditation for LRWC’s sportsbook comes after PAGCOR last month granted approval for MegaSportsWorld and Jade SportsBet to offer online sports betting services to the local Philippines market.

Having previously resisted such moves, PAGCOR has become much more open to providing Philippine residents with online gaming options as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The gaming regulator last year approved a scheme, known as PIGO (Philippine Inland Gaming Operators), under which casino and integrated resort operators can be licensed to offer online gambling to existing registered members, allowing them to log in and play from anywhere in the country.

LRWC, which operates eGaming facilities on behalf of PAGCOR across the Philippines, recently confirmed it is looking to resurrect a previously planned integrated resort development on Boracay which had been planned as a joint development with Macau’s Galaxy Entertainment Group, after President Rodrigo Duterte lifted a moratorium on new casinos.
