Resorts World Las Vegas introduces vaccine mandate for staff

Genting Berhad’s Resorts World Las Vegas has become the latest Strip property to introduce a vaccine mandate.

As of this week, all new hires will be required to be vaccinated as a condition of employment, with the mandate applying to both hourly and salaried employees according to local media outlet KLAS.

It follows an order from US President Joe Biden last week for all businesses with 100 or more employees to require them to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or face weekly testing.

Nevada reported 1,552 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday with numbers now at their highest since January.

RWLV’s decision to mandate vaccinations for its employees follows a similar move by MGM Resorts in August for all salaried and new employees, likely to be extended to cover existing hourly employees in the near future.

Wynn Resorts requires its employees to either be vaccinated or undergo weekly testing while Las Vegas Sands also requires weekly testing for all non-vaccinated staff, conducted onsite and free of charge.

Westgate Las Vegas, located just off the Strip, announced Friday that it too will require staff to show proof of vaccination by 15 October with CEO David Seigel telling staff via a memo that vaccination had saved his life after a recent battle with COVID-19.
