Oshidori International Development Ltd has announced the “NAGASAKI Future Project” – a co-sponsored project with the Kyushu Oshidori Children’s Foundation and Nagasaki Bus Tourism Development Promotion Fund

The goal is to encourage Nagasaki residents to assist the prefecture’s future by teaching children about Nagasaki. For the project’s first initiative, 17 school children from V-Varen Nagasaki school, an official partner of Oshidori, were invited to a history and recreational tour over two days on 23 and 24 July.

Oshidori, in partnership with Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, is leading one of three consortiums bidding to develop an integrated resort in Sasebo City. If successful, it is hoped the IR will contribute to solving local issues and building an ideal future city.

Keigo Nakatani, COO of Oshidori, said, “We are delighted that we can provide the children, who are the future of Nagasaki, with more opportunity to learn about where they live. We are convinced that the opportunity to develop a sense of familiarity and love for their home area and to talk about the future of Nagasaki with their peers will lead to a better future for them and Nagasaki.

“We are also grateful for our collaboration with the Nagasaki Bus Tourism Development Promotion Fund, which has long history of social contribution in Nagasaki, and which is actively rooted in the local community. We will continue to work collaboratively for a better Nagasaki.”

Masahide Shimazaki, President of the Nagasaki Bus Tourism Development Promotion Foundation, added, “Our children were able to grow up in a free and relaxed environment but now have their activities limited due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Under these circumstances, I am delighted that the NAGASAKI Future Project has provided them with a real life experience and an opportunity to be moved.

“Nagasaki is surrounded by green mountains and blue seas with rich nature and heritage sites. We hope that through this project, the children involved will discover all that Nagasaki has to offer and we have established a fund to support that.”
