Macau government officials, including Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Yao Jian, and MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes were among the dignitaries on hand for the launch of the “2021 Macau・Qingdao Beer Cultural Festival” at Wynn Palace on Friday.

The festival, featuring a selection of 18 beers from Tsingtao Beer and Macau Beer plus food stalls and entertainment, will run for 24 days in conjunction with the Qingdao Beer Festival. The aim is to promote tourism between the two cities by promoting Macau as a safe and healthy destination in the COVID-19 era.

“Qingdao in Shandong Province is the hometown of Chinese beer,” said Senna Fernandes at the opening.

“This latest collaboration between Tsingtao Beer and Macau Beer, coupled with featured cuisine, entertainment performances, as well as cultural and creative elements from the two places, will bring a uniquely appealing twin-city-style event to both residents and tourists in Macau.

“The MGTO strives to deepen ‘Tourism+’ cross-border integration, strengthen the driving role of the tourism industry in other sectors, promote the Macau tourism market and economic recovery, and foster an amplifying effect through cooperation with different provinces and cities, with the hope of achieving greater results in the field of tourism. I sincerely hope that the pandemic will pass soon, with tourism and related industries in various regions recovering as soon as possible to welcome all tourists.”
