Women in Gaming & Hospitality Australasia (WGHA) has announced a new public speaking program aimed at boosting the presence of women on stage at this year’s Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE) via workshops and coaching.

The program, called Spot On, has been developed in association with AGE organizer, the Gaming Technologies Association, and provides speaker workshops and coaching to support women in developing their presentation and influencing skills.

The WGHA sees Spot On as an opportunity to help achieve its goal of 40:40:20 representation – 40% female, 40% male and 20% undefined – across all areas including management, on stage and in the audience.

“We are committed to increasing the visibility of women at industry events, we constantly look for opportunities to support women in speaking and to support the industry in driving systemic changes to gender equity,” said WHGA CEO Helen Galloway.

Chris Muir, CEO of GTA, added, “Programs like this drive change ensuring we have talented women being visible advocates for the industry. GTA is committed to WGHA’s 40:40:20 goals, and this program is a tangible means to get there.”

The Spot On program, to be delivered at AGE on Wednesday 12 August at 3pm and Thursday 13 August at 9am, has seen speakers nominated by corporate partners of WGHA or self-nominated through an open process to the WGHA community earlier this year. The women represent some of Australia’s largest gaming firms including Crown Resorts, Star Entertainment Group and Aristocrat.

AGE runs from 10 to 12 August 2021 at ICC Sydney.
