All three operator groups who successfully passed the primary screening have now submitted the documents necessary to progress to the second screening as part of Nagasaki prefecture’s operator selection, according to a report by Nagasaki Shimbun.
The three groups in question are Oshidori International Development Ltd in partnership with US tribal gaming operator Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, Casinos Austria International Japan and NIKI Chyau Fwu (Parkview) Group.
All three progressed to the second round of Nagasaki’s RFP in March when the prefecture cut the number of candidates from five initial applicants, with Current Group and One Kyushu missing out.
The operators will now make presentations to the prefecture in August with the final screening results due to be announced in the same month, based on Nagasaki’s RFP schedule.
The prefecture has stated that the secondary screening documents will be the operators’ final proposals.
Japan’s national government will accept applications from candidate locations and their operator partners from October 2021 until April 2022.
If successful, Nagasaki and its chosen operator partner will develop an integrated resort on a plot of land located alongside Dutch-inspired theme park Huis Ten Bosch in Sasebo City.
