Japanese pachinko and pachislot machine developer SAMMY Corporation has announced the launch of a new business called “m” and focusing on Texas Hold’em poker.
Offering a unique combination of skill and luck, Texas Hold’em is the most popular card game in the world with the annual World Series of Poker attracting tens of thousands of enthusiasts to Las Vegas every year.
“We have taken on a number of challenges in the pachinko and pachislot business, leading innovative technology in the industry,” SAMMY said.
“We are utilizing our know-how accumulated in that process to launch “m” – a new entertainment business following the pachinko and pachislot business to continue to provide exhilarating experiences to the world.”
A company representative added, “SAMMY’s new entertainment business will provide an intellectual experience for a wide range of people, focusing on Texas Hold’em which has a competitive population of over 100 million people worldwide. “m” represents an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph and a symbol of wisdom, the owl, and we are developing the mind sport of Texas Hold’em into a new culture of mind entertainment.”
SAMMY said it plans to launch a portal site that shares information on Texas Hold’em and to open a store in Meguro-ku, Tokyo, focusing on smartphone apps. Further, the company plans to hold tournaments in the future.
SAMMY Corporation is a subsidiary of Sega Sammy Holdings, one of the consortium partners confirmed this week to be partnering Genting Singapore in its bid to develop an integrated resort in Yokohama.
