The Philippines government will allow 13 hotels located in the National Capital Region (NCR) and currently offering staycation holidays to operate at full capacity and without requiring a negative COVID-19 test from guests.
According to a statement by Presidential spokesman Harry Roque, hotels must possess a certificate of authority from the Department of Tourism to operate for staycations, meaning 13 hotels previously announced as holding such a certificate qualify.
Among those in question are hotels located at all four of Manila’s integrated resorts: City of Dreams Manila, Okada Manila, Resorts World Manila and Solaire Resort & Casino.
The full list comprises Grand Hyatt Hotel, Okada Manila Hotel, Shangri-la at the Fort, Nobu Hotel (City of Dreams), Joy Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila, EDSA Shangri-la Manila, Solaire Resort, Hyatt Regency and Nuwa Hotel at City of Dreams, The Peninsula Manila, Aruga by Rockwell, Sheraton Manila Hotel (RWM) and Hilton Manila (RWM).
Hotels located in areas under General Community Quarantine (GCQ), which is more relaxed than the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in place across large parts of the capital, are allowed to operate at a maximum 30% capacity.
Manila’s integrated resorts recently reopened to invited guests, having been forced to temporarily suspend all operations in late March as another wave of COVID-19 swept across the country, placing the NCR into strict Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). It was the second time the casinos had been forced to close, almost one year to the day since originally suspending operations on 15 March 2020.
