Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has become the latest of Macau’s concessionaires to join the push to increase vaccination rates among its staff, declaring plans to set up a vaccination site at Galaxy Macau and hold two COVID-19 vaccine information seminars.
The move follows recent meetings between Macau gaming operators and the Health Bureau to address lower than anticipated vaccination rates across the SAR, with local news channel TDM having reported that just over 85,700 people had received their first dose and less than 50,000 or 7.8% of the population both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
MGM China and Melco Resorts & Entertainment both launched initiatives to promote vaccination among their staff last week.
GEG said Thursday that it has now arranged for the Health Bureau to set up a vaccination point at Galaxy Macau from 10 to 12 June with the capacity to serve between 1,500 and 1,800 employees and their family. Those who receive both doses will be eligible to receive two Special Vaccine Leave days either on the days they receive their shots or on the days immediately after.
The COVID-19 vaccine information seminars will be held on 1 and 2 June with Dr Tai Wa Hou from Macau’s Health Bureau providing employees with details about the vaccines’ efficacy, who should or shouldn’t take it and other key information.
“GEG has been working closely with the relevant departments and supporting the related pandemic prevention and control measures laid out by the Macau SAR Government,” the company said.
“The success of Macau’s anti- pandemic work did not come easy. As pandemic prevention and control has become part of society’s new-normal, GEG will continue to support the Macau SAR Government’s related guidelines and policies and would like to take this opportunity to encourage team members and the public to work together and show our best in preventing and controlling the pandemic and responding to the Macau SAR Government’s call to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”
