The new Studio City Water Park at Studio City held its official opening on Saturday 22 May – an early preview of the property’s ongoing Phase 2 expansion.
According to Melco Resorts & Entertainment, nearly 1,000 guests attended the opening day, which also saw MGTO Director Helena de Senna Fernandes, Assistant to Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR Zhao Su and Melco executives David Sisk and Dr Kent Wong in attendance.
Studio City Water Park is designed as a family friendly theme park featuring multiple water-based rides and attractions.
Its opening comes just weeks after its operator, Studio City Finance Ltd, issued US$350 million of notes to partially fund completion of Studio City Phase 2.
The proceeds from the offering are intended to “partially fund the capital expenditures of the remaining project for Studio City [Phase 2] and for general corporate purposes,” the company said overnight.
The company had earlier in the month been granted a seven-month extension to its government-imposed deadline to complete development of Phase 2 from 27 May 2022 until 27 December 2022.
Studio City Finance is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Studio City International Holdings Limited, which in turn counts Melco Resorts & Entertainment as its major shareholder with a 54.7% stake.
