Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) says the government will carefully listen to the views from various sectors of Macau society on what specific requirements should be imposed on gaming licenses as part of the re-tendering process.
DICJ Director, Adriano Ho, responded to written interpellations from legislator Ho Ion Seng asking for clarification on the definition of “non-gaming elements’” and the setting of more requirements around the issue of new gaming licenses.
“Regarding whether specific requirements should be imposed on re-tendering or concessionaires’ contracts (of gaming licenses), such as requiring gaming operators to increase their efforts in developing non-gaming elements or taking specific social responsibilities, the SAR Government will seriously listen to the views from various sectors,” Ho said.
“Meanwhile, the government will launch a public consultation about the amendments of gaming law in the second half of this year.”
The SAR government has suggested it will encourage gaming operators to welcome more local SMEs to be operate out of Macau’s large-scale IRs and will keep pushing operators to support local SMEs and young entrepreneurs via procurement processes.
