Galaxy Entertainment Group has revealed a series of key environmental design features it says will place Galaxy International Convention Center at the forefront of industry sustainability practices.
GICC is scheduled to open in the second half of 2021 as part of GEG’s Galaxy Macau Phase 3 development, with the company announcing Thursday that the venue has received Silver Certification for Environmental Design from scientific benchmarking, certification and advisory group EarthCheck.
It also provided a glimpse into its main energy saving initiatives, revealing GICC has been specifically designed to house its own robust and highly efficient “Energy Center” which includes a central chiller plant that can be integrated with future chiller plants. The chiller plan will provide a centralized chilled water supply and a 110kV power substation to not only serve GICC but all of Galaxy Macau.
GICC will also boast a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system described as being “among the world’s most advanced, featuring effective energy-saving measures to optimize ventilation.”
Finally, eco-friendly “green walls” will be planted along the façade of the Galaxy Arena entrance and at the entrance to GICC’s Andaz Macau hotel to keep temperatures cooler in summer and reduce the amount of heat escaping in winter.
GEG said GICC will also be one of Asia’s most technically advanced destinations in Asia with advanced acoustics for premium sound quality, best in class in global digital and simulcast communication, and a digital hybrid format to allow for the creation of innovative events.
