Crown makeover continues as another executive departs

Crown Resorts has announced the resignation of Mary Manos as General Counsel and Company Secretary, with immediate effect, as the fallout from the Bergin Report continues to be felt by Crown’s executive team.

Manos’ departure forms part of a substantial restructuring of the company’s internal procedures, with Helen Coonan – who earlier this week assumed the role of Executive Chairman on an interim basis following the departure of CEO Ken Barton – revealing the roles of General Counsel and Company Secretary will now be split into two separate roles.

“This represents a further significant governance improvement for Crown and demonstrates Crown’s commitment to a well-resourced, governance, legal and compliance function,” Coonan said.

Chief Financial Officer Alan McGregor has been appointed interim Company Secretary and will be responsible for communication with the Australian Securities Exchange, Crown said.

The company also revealed that Coonan will be handsomely rewarded during her time as interim Executive Chairman with additional remuneration of AU$1.8 million per annum, bringing her total remuneration to AU$2.5 million per annum while in the role.

Her enhanced pay packet reflects the added responsibility she will be required to take on in the absence of a CEO, with Crown having stated it will start the search for a replacement for Barton immediately.

Guy Jalland, Michael Johnston and Andrew Demetriou all stepped down from the Crown Resorts board last week.
