Suncity Group Holdings Japan Co., Ltd. one of two candidates to develop an integrated resort in Wakayama, will hold a talk session with Japan’s Sail GP team next month in which it will detail its plans to make the prefecture a haven for yachting.
The session, titled “Creating Sustainable Tourism Through a Wakayama Yacht Haven”, will be held in Suncity’s Wakayama office on 23 February and see Kazuhiko Sofuku, COO of the Japanese Team; Kazuya Nakamura, director of NPO Wakayama Sailing Club; and Atsuko Nakamura, head of the Wakayama Sailing club office and instructor of the Junior Yacht club, take the stage.
The content will be about sustainable tourism by making Wakayama and Marina City a haven for yachting and presenting an image of Wakayama centered around sport and local resources. Plans include the development of yachting and sailing competitions and boosting the related population through the creation of fans of sports entertainment.
Suncity Group is currently taking part in Wakayama’s RFP process with its “Wakayama IR 2.0” concept. It is thought that codevelopment of the whole region, which will be prompted by the IR project, is vital for the future of Wakayama and protecting the values of the area.
In October of last year, Suncity signed a youth academy official partner contract with the Japan Sail GP Team, and co-sponsored the youth training academy at the Wakayama Sailing Center (Marina City) and the marine conservation lecture group. Local Wakayama high school students and their parents also participated.
The talk session will be free for 20 people with a lottery if too many are interested, and will be live broadcast on Instagram.
