Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation (RWPCHF), the charitable arm of Resorts World Manila operator Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc, has donated Php500 million (US$10.5 million) for the construction of an NCRPO Medical Center.
The modern medical center – located in Taguig City, Maila – is allocated for police officers and their families, with a groundbreaking ceremony held last week involving RWPCHF, gaming regulator PAGCOR and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo noted that under PAGCOR’s regulatory rules its casino licensees are required to establish a foundation for the restoration of cultural heritage.
“A percentage of their gross gaming revenues are set aside for these foundations which shall be used for the protection, conservation and restoration of cultural heritage sites in the Philippines; improvement of public schools in the country; and provision of quality healthcare services,” she said.
“Our Entertainment City licensees, through their Foundations, have been contributing a lot to the country’s health sector. Apart from their COVID-19 efforts, they are also donating a hefty amount for the establishment of healthcare facilities around the Philippines.”
Those facilities included construction late last year of a 600-bed COVID-19 quarantine facility in Manila by Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, Inc – the charitable arm of Solaire Resort & Casino operator Bloomberry Resorts.
Resorts World Manila has also previously joined hands with the PNP in refurbishing and providing new medical equipment to the Sinagtala Wing of the PNP General Hospital.
Travellers’ President and CEO Kingson Sian said now was an important time to contribute medical facilities.
“It is only fitting that at this time, we are embarking on this project – a modern medical center, equipped for the new normal, that will expand the PNP’s capability to give its dedicated police officers and their families the care they deserve,” he said.
