Oshidori International Development Ltd has announced the appointment of Keigo Nakatani as its new Chief Operating Officer, tasked with further promoting the company’s bid to develop an integrated resort in Nagasaki.
According to a Friday announcement, Nakatani joins Oshidori from Japanese PR and advertising giant Hakuhodo where he has worked since 2000. Specifically, he worked on various tourism campaigns for Narita Airport, a Hong Kong Market Japan campaign and a campaign by the Japan Tourism Agency targeting Southeast Asia called Be.Okinawa. He also worked on efforts to expand Japanese products overseas such as domestic beer exports.
Oshidori said Nakatani had previously worked with a US operator targeting Hokkaido which saw him spend time at integrated resorts across North America, Europe and Asia.
“Oshidori not only has the potential to build the leading IR resort within Asia but also fulfil its social responsibility to Nagasaki and Kyushu through the facility,” said CEO Alex Yemenidjian.
“It is a company rule that an IR is a starter for us to create a new society together with local people. For that purpose, we wanted someone who would be able to carefully establish a relationship with the local region, discover its potential and convey that to the world.
“[Nakatani] is that man so I asked him to take the position.”
Oshidori International Development Ltd, the Japan entity of Hong Kong’s Oshidori International Holdings Inc, is one of four companies known to pursuing a Nagasaki IR bid alongside Casinos Austria, Pixel Companyz in collaboration with Groupe Partouche, and a consortium comprising Get Nice Holdings and Current Corp. It has been reported that at least three more companies – comprising two from the US and one from Asia – are also planning to take part in Nagasaki’s recently launched RFP.
