Macau-based law firm MdME Lawyers has announced the launch of a new digital transformation team that will focus on the legal, regulatory and policy aspects of technology disruption.
Set to be led by Victoria White, who was hired last month as Special Counsel and Technology Expert Lawyer, the digital transformation team will look to help IR businesses navigate opportunities that have been fast-tracked as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Amidst an unconventional year and unprecedented circumstances, 2020 has become a catalyst for the digital transformation of companies and businesses,” MdME said in announcing its latest initiative.
“Economic agents around the world are forced to revisit their service delivery models and to embrace digital disruption. The integrated resort industry is no exception. Digital transformation will be essential to drive growth in the sector, but it will also pose critical legal challenges.”
White in particular is an expert in information technology matters, with a focus on the use and regulation of emerging technologies, digital and data solutions as well as e-commerce and payments. She previously worked in management roles for Marina Bay Sands and Sands China, and spent 10 years as a lawyer in the Intellectual Property & Information Technology group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Hong Kong, Beijing and London.
