The Parisian Ballroom at The Parisian Macao played host to one of the few industry events of its kind this year – the 2020 Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner.

The 13th Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner welcomed 240 guests to The Parisian Macao on Friday 6 November as Inside Asian Gaming counted down the most influential people in the Asian gaming industry in 2020.

Firmly established on the first Friday of November each year as one of the most anticipated events on the annual calendar, this year’s Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner was a little different to previous years – carrying the theme of “Standing Together in 2020” as a tribute to the challenges our industry has faced due to COVID-19.

In order to ensure a safe event, attendance was reduced from the usual 300+ guests to allow for adequate spacing and limited to guests who declared they had not left Macau within the previous 14 days. Tables that usually seat 12 to 14 guests were also restricted to a maximum eight guests per table.

Despite these adjustments, the Gala Dinner was hailed not only as the sole major social event of its type in 2020 but the most successful and enjoyable Power 50 Gala Dinner yet.

It was also supported by a wide array of sponsors and supporter companies. Sands China Ltd was venue sponsor; Bloomberry Resorts and Solaire Resort & Casino were sponsors of the Bloomberry Solaire Red Carpet Welcome Cocktails; Platinum Sponsors were Angel Macau, Aristocrat, Scientific Games and Suncity Group, while Gold Sponsors were Macau concessionaires Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, MGM China, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. and Wynn Macau Ltd.

Champagne Sponsor was Moët Hennessy Diageo and Beverage Sponsor was Macau Beer, joined by Telecom Sponsor CTM and Farewell Gift Sponsor T-Galleria by DFS. Thank you also to Entertainment Sponsor CPG Concepts and Guest Artists ARICLAN, and to Like Entertainment for providing Production Support.

This year’s Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner featured an array of exciting new offerings both for guests and for those unable to attend. They included live streaming of the Bloomberry Solaire Red Carpet Welcome Cocktails, providing an opportunity for viewers to watch via the IAG facebook page as guests traversed the red carpet upon arrival. IAG’s on-site reporter Joana Soares spoke exclusively with guests while they enjoyed the Bloomberry Solaire Welcome Cocktails hour between 6.30pm and 7.30pm, sharing their experience of the night and thoughts on this year’s Power 50.

Also available for the very first time were Live Real-Time Photo Downloads, allowing guests and viewers to download professional photos from the event within minutes of photos being taken so they could share them with the world in real-time. A live camera crew edited and uploaded photos to a special website in real time, which guests were then able to access via the QR code at multiple locations at the event.

There was no shortage of entertainment on the night, provided by local guest artists ARICLAN, a popular nine-piece electro-funk band who rocked the crowd with an energy-fuelled set of originals.

Entertainment Sponsor CPG Concepts were behind the three specialty acts throughout the night, including Christiane Stinner who wowed the audience with a mesmerizing acrobatic performance and Tomos Griffiths who sang some all-time greats including “That’s Amore” and “I’m Gonna Live Till I Die,” famously covered by Frank Sinatra. Tomos, who formerly performed the lead at London’s Phantom of the Opera, also dazzled the crowd with a stirring rendition of “Nessun Dorma,” a staple of world-renowned tenor Luciano Pavarotti.

The event featured an all-Macau lineup of support staff and crew numbering around 150 people and comprising everything from the organizing team, production support crew, entertainers, Bloomberry Solaire Red Carpet Welcome Cocktails live streaming team, models, photographers, videographers, on-site assistants, construction team, audio operators, lighting operators, wait-staff, chefs and more. Their efforts meant a very low guest to staff ratio of 1.6 guests per staff member, ultimately resulting in an extremely high quality event.

IAG is already planning the 2021 Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner, which will be held on Friday 5 November 2021 at a Macau integrated resort venue yet to be announced.
