Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment, Inc (TRLEI), the operating entity of Philippines integrated resort Okada Manila and subsidiary of Japan’s Universal Entertainment Corp, has announced the promotion of Chief Operating Officer Byron Yip to the new role of President.

In an “organization announcement” issued this week, TRLEI named Yip – a former investment banker with Deutsche Bank – as its new President following the departure of Takashi Oya, who has opted to pursue outside opportunities.

Hajime Tokuda, Universal Entertainment Corp’s Director-in-Charge for Overseas Business, credited Yip for the rapid growth of Okada Manila prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that his “remarkable business leadership has led to the phenomenal growth of Okada Manila and made it a leading integrated resort in terms of gross gaming revenue in the Philippines.

“As the whole world continues to struggle through these trying times, we are confident that, with Byron’s exemplary leadership, Okada Manila will soon resume being a preferred destination and world-class integrated resort.”

Yip, appointed TRLEI COO on 23 April 2018, previously spent eight years with Deutsche Bank where he provided investment banking services to global gaming companies, before joining Union Gaming in 2016. He has also worked as an investment banker with TD Securities in Toronto, Canada and with Deloitte & Touche.
