The Macao Youth Media Association held its Macao Media Annual Conference 2020 at Wynn Macau on Saturday, bringing together key media and youth affairs representatives to learn how local media organizations have pivoted in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sponsored by Wynn Macau, the theme of this year’s event was “Media Response Strategies and Communication Power under the Epidemic” and saw five keynote speakers – including IAG’s very own Victoria Man – discuss how local SMEs in the media and communications industry in Macau have met COVID-19 by adopting positive strategies. They also provided advice for young media workers on how they should adjust to meet the challenges of the pandemic, and how companies can provide more opportunities for these young people.
In particular, Victoria highlighted the fact that IAG actually increased the output of information to the Macau and Asian IR industry as the pandemic took hold, leading to a 72% increase in website traffic compared with the same period in 2019. IAG also launched online business insights platform GAME in just two days when the pandemic took hold in response to industry challenges arising from the pandemic.

Special guests of the event included Xu Ting, Director-General of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government; Wong Lok I, Deputy Director of GCS; Cheong Man Fai, Chief of Youth Department, DSEJ; Zheng Yu, Chief of Division of Youth Affairs of Fundacao Macao; Linda Chen, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited; Andrew W Scott, Vice Chairman and CEO of Inside Asian Gaming; Choi Man Cheng, Chairman of Macau Youth Federation; Cheong In Cheng, President of MYMA; Chan Ka Chon, Chairman of MYMA; and Lam Ka Wai, Chairman of Macau Media Annual Conference Committee.

Held annually since September 2018, the Macao Media Annual Conference aims to help young people who are interested in joining the media industry understand the industry and expand their development.
Its organizer, The Macau Youth Media Association, is a non-profit organization established since April 2017 to unite young media workers in promoting the development of media work in Macau.
