City of Dreams Manila has announced the granting of a full month’s pay to non-management employees in order to assist them during the Enhanced Community Quarantine that has seen Manila’s casinos closed since 15 March.
The payment, which excludes fixed allowances, comes as many of those employees affected by the closure start exhausting their leave balances, City of Dreams Manila said in statement sent to IAG on Thursday. Around 6,000 employees have received the payment.
“These are measures that Melco and its management team are undertaking to help ease the burden on our colleagues whose well-being is of paramount importance,” said City of Dreams Manila Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Benning.
“We hope this latest initiative of Melco, along with the advance release last month of the 13th month pay, will help alleviate the challenges that our colleagues may be facing in these unprecedented times.”
City of Dreams Manila recently donated Php120 million (US$2.4 million) worth of relief goods via the Office of the President and will donate another Php30 million (US$592,000) to support Parañaque – the area in which the IR is located – including a free shuttle bus for local front line workers.
The Philippine government has eased ECQ restrictions in some parts of Manila to what it calls Modified ECQ, with the COVID-19 situation to be re-assessed by 31 May.
