SiGMA Group has announced the launch of SiGMA LatAm, a two-day virtual summit to be held on 22 and 23 September 2020.

The third and newest event on SiGMA’s calendar following the long-established SiGMA Malta, held in Malta each November, and recently added SiGMA-ICE Asia Digital, to be held from 8 to 10 June 2020, SiGMA LatAm will run three hours daily starting from 14:00 CET time, followed at 18:00 by SiGMA Deep Tech.

The free conference will comprise around 70 speakers from diverse sectors of the LatAm gaming and tech industry.

“We have a strong workforce in Malta, in Kiev and in Manila. It’s time for SiGMA to grow its portfolio and expand outside its comfort zone, covering all time zones with a new office in the Americas,” said SiGMA Group Founder Eman Pulis.

“It was a very close call between Buenos Aires and São Paulo. We eventually chose the latter for two reasons – there’s already a great presence of media and events offices in Buenos Aires and we don’t want to replicate more of the same or compete with our friends. In addition, the sheer market potential and current appetite for regulation in Brazil gave us more reasons to set offices there.”

Brazilian Federal Deputy Pompeo de Mattos has stated that revenue generated from regulated gambling could provide a much needed boost to the nation’s economy.

“It would generate taxes, income for the government and it would help us recover the economy. It would create jobs. It’s a perfectly possible, viable and necessary alternative to rebuild the economy after the coronavirus crisis,” de Mattos said.

The agenda for SiGMA LatAm will cover a variety of topics, including an in-depth look at the Columbian, Brazilian, Argentinian, Venezuelan, Mexican and Peruvian markets. Panels will also look at the M&A appetite in LatAm post-COVID-19, as well as examining the legislative landscape, SiGMA said.
