Chicago-based architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) has released new renderings of its design for Naga3, the US$3.5 billion expansion of Cambodian integrated resort NagaWorld.
The spectacular images, which highlight recent revisions to the design, show three towers rising high into the Phnom Penh skyline, including one tower set to become the highest point in the city.
In describing its Naga3 design, SOM states, “Naga3 will be the most important landmark for the city in the years to come. The building is split in three towers, each rising out of a common, porous podium. At the top, the towers are connected once again through an exclusive amenity with unrivalled views of the city and the river. The uppermost point in the North tower will be a commanding emblem in the skyline, and the highest point in the entire Phnom Penh.”
NagaWorld operator NagaCorp had previously said Naga3 would comprise five towers with a gross floor area of 544,801 square meters and connected by an 11-storey podium incorporating the hotel lobby, gaming facilities, retail, restaurants, a theme park, spa and conference space. The additional gaming space is planned to house up to 800 more gaming tables and 2,500 EGMs.
NagaCorp has also revealed previously that development of Naga3 will be 50% funded by controlling shareholder and CEO, Dr Chen Lip Keong, and 50% via external funding options, with each to contribute US$1.76 billion.
