After a month of imposing mandatory quarantine on all Macau arrivals, Macau is working on pushing to re-open its borders with Guangdong Province, but it will be up to the mainland China government to make the final decision.
Several legislators urged the removal of mandatory quarantine imposed by Guangdong Province during the Q&A session of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, as the restriction affects not only the gaming and tourist industries but also the livelihood of the Macau community.
The Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak, however, reiterated that Macau is still waiting for further notice on easing border controls.
“Macau cannot make the decision, it is a communication between Zhuhai city, Guangdong province and even the Central government,” he said.
