Macau’s biggest integrated resorts averaged just 15 players on each of their main gaming floors during any one afternoon this week, according to research conducted by Inside Asian Gaming.
With analysts tipping a year-on-year GGR decline of around 95% in April after border restrictions for those entering Guangdong from Macau were tightened in late March, IAG walked the main gaming floor of 11 of the SAR’s largest IRs this week to conduct a headcount on players.
All counts were conducted on the afternoons of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with the IRs visited being The Venetian Macao, Parisian Macao, Sands Cotai Central, City of Dreams, Wynn Palace, MGM Cotai, Galaxy Macau, Grand Lisboa, Wynn Macau, MGM Macau and StarWorld.
On average, each gaming floor had just seven players on tables and eight players on slots.
Notably, the busiest gaming floor of all when IAG visited was MGM Macau with 10 table game players and 25 on slots, followed by Grand Lisboa with 10 at the tables and 14 on slots.
Sands Cotai Central, which is also undergoing major renovation works which will see it transformed into The Londoner Macao, was the quietest with just a single player on slots.
