Malaysia’s Resorts World Genting (RWG) has joined the rapidly growing list of casinos to close its doors as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the globe.

With Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin having placed the country in lockdown for two weeks, with no international visitors allowed in and returning residents to be placed into 14-day quarantine, Genting Malaysia announced Tuesday that RWG would close for the duration, from 18 to 31 March.

The closure includes the casino, hotel facilities, food and beverage outlets, Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, all entertainment facilities, attractions, shopping malls and retail outlets.

Essential resort-based services such as security, utilities and clinics will remain operational, however standing hotel reservations during the period will be cancelled, with guests entitled to a refund.

RWG said it would resume operations on 1 April.
