Partner at Macau law firm MdME, Rui Pinto Proença, has been named as one of only two Band 1 lawyers in Chamber and Partners’ annual rankings of gaming lawyers in Asia-Pacific.
London-based Chamber and Partners covers 41 jurisdictions including large markets such as Macau, Australia, India, Japan and Singapore plus smaller jurisdictions such as Myanmar and Mongolia.
Individual lawyers are ranked in their practice-area on the basis of their legal knowledge and experience, their ability, their effectiveness and their client-service, including such assets as speed, responsiveness, clear business language and decisive opinions.
Band 1 is the highest achievement possible by an individual lawyer or a law firm under the rankings system.
Proença was joined in Band 1 by Jamie Nettleton of Australia’s Addisons.
Chamber and Partners said clients spoke of Proença as a “very focused lawyer with international exposure” who “understands a deal fast and comes up with solutions.” It added that he is further noted for “always acting in the best interests of his client and taking a long-term view.”
Speaking with Inside Asian Gaming, Proença said, “More than an individual accolade, this is the recognition of the outstanding work of a team of highly committed lawyers.”
This is the fourth consecutive year that Proença has been ranked in the Chambers and Partners gaming section and second year in Band 1.
