A daughter of company founder Stanley Ho and full sister to MGM Co-Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho and Melco Resorts Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho, Daisy Ho claimed her own place in the spotlight 18 months ago when she stepped into the Chairman’s role at SJM vacated by her elderly father.
Yet Ho is no stranger to high-powered positions. She was appointed an Executive Director of Shun Tak Holdings Limited in 1994 and has been the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Shun Tak since 1999. She is also a member of the executive committee, remuneration committee and nomination committee and a director of a number of its subsidiaries.
SJM may well bring its own challenges in the coming years, with sister Pansy having positioned their side of the family to hold major sway over the company’s future via a five-way shareholder alliance formed in January. The timing of that play was intriguing given the rapidly approaching expiration of SJM’s Macau casino license in 2022 and impending launch of its Cotai integrated resort, Grand Lisboa Palace.
On that last matter, no doubt her Master of Business Administration Degree in finance from the University of Toronto and Bachelor’s Degree in marketing from the University of Southern California will come in handy for making the most of its Cotai presence.
